Principal Engineer — Flight Controls & Autonomy

Iman is Principal Engineer at SkyCanSystems, where he leads the development of flight controls and autonomy systems for UAVs with defence applications. With over a decade of hands-on experience spanning commercial aviation, defence, and autonomous systems, Iman brings a rare combination of academic depth and industry-proven expertise to some of Canada's most technically demanding aerospace challenges.

Prior to joining SkyCanSystems, Iman accumulated an exceptional track record at leading aerospace and defence organizations. At Bombardier Aerospace, as a Fly-By-Wire System R&D Specialist, he contributed to the flight control systems of the Global business jet series and the Airbus A220 fly-by-wire platform: two of the most sophisticated commercial aircraft in production.

At CMC Electronics, as UAV Autopilot R&D Technical Team Lead and Manager, Iman guided a multidisciplinary engineering team through the development of eVTOL and UAV autopilot systems. He defined next-generation UAV autopilot architectures incorporating advanced guidance, navigation and control (GNC) solutions.

Iman holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Concordia University, specializing in fault‑tolerant flight control of unmanned aerial vehicles. He is a Transport Canada-qualified Advanced RPAS pilot.
